Bryant Terry Book Signing & Cooking Demo

Rainbow is happy to welcome chef, author, activist and friend of the store Bryant Terry. On Saturday, March 7th from 11 AM to 12:00 he will stage a cooking demo featuring recipes from his new book Vegan Soul Kitchen. Admission is FREE. He will also sign copies of both his books which you may buy at Rainbow. The Cooking Demo will held at Chez Spencer, around the block from Rainbow. Their address is 82 14th Street, between Folsom & Harrison.

Biodiesel Update!

January 14, 2009

As of January 14th, People's Fuel is no longer offering Biodiesel at Rainbow Grocery. They are working hard to build a permanent filling station at Rainbow. Check this space for news on its completion.

In the meantime we urge you to visit our friends at Dogpatch Biofuels. They are "San Francisco's first and only public, retail biodiesel-only filling station, carrying B100 biodiesel from local and recycled sources." Check their website for current pricing and hours of operation.

Recycle Your Old Electronics with E-Cycle at Rainbow

E-Cycle Environmental will be at Rainbow Grocery on January 04,2009 from 12 noon until 4 pm. Bring in your old televisions, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, and electronics to be recycled free of charge! E-Cycle Environmental:

Accepts all computers and electronics
Will not export or resell equipment
Breaks equipment down into raw materials
Destroys data left on computer equipment

New Coupons Make Their Debut

The 2009 edition of the AT&T Phonebook began popping up around the city today. That means coupons! We've recieved a ton of calls from people with questions. Here's a few answers:

In 2009, EVERY Wednesday and Thursday are coupon days. We hope this will help alleviate some of the insanely long lines we experienced in 2008.
You MUST bring your coupon with you to the store. Please cut it completely out and be ready to present it to the cashier at checkout.
The 2009 AT&T San Francisco Phonebook is the ONLY place to find a Rainbow Coupon. Rainbow does not keep a supply of phonebooks or coupons.

Rainbow Honored by César Chavez Holiday Committee

For its many years of support for César Chavez and the United Farmworkers, Rainbow Grocery has been presented with the "Celebrating a Legacy of Social Justice" Award by Eva Royal, a long-time worker with the UFW and presently chair of the César Chavez Holiday Committee. The award is signed by Dolores Huerta. This beautiful original framed graphic is hanging on the Rainbow front display wall, to the right of the glass cases where the César Chavez main display is.
